This is fun...had a challenge put forth to me by Moo's Scrap World. The rules are as follows:

Go to your photo folder in your computer.
Go to the 6th folder of the photos.
Go to the sixth picture.
Put the picture on your blog and description of it.
Invite six friends to join the challenge.
Link them in your blog and let them know they have been challenged.

This pic was taken on Oct.26/08 at the pumpkin patch. My two greatest creations Curtis and Sam (now you know where Curtisam Creations comes from lol). I actually didn't get to go on this trip due to a pulled muscle in my back so it was a daddy and kids day. They came home tired, dirty, with lots of pumpkins and loads of photos (good daddy AND a good hubby too)!

This morning, I was going through some email and all of a sudden, it dawned on me...I had not posted the rest of the Past Memories Bracket Book :-( my memory isn't what it used to be on the best of the best days...sigh And it has been a somewhat hectic week...sick daughter, pulled a muscle in my back and my husband was on a business trip. And of course, there is the drama queen part of me who had stuff to take care of lol

Creative Team Calls

A while back, a Creative Team call went out through a group I run. If you are not aware of what that is, it is when a designer (or several designers) asks for people who are interested in making items for the purpose of advertising their work. The designer shares their kits with the creative team. The Creative Team then makes layouts, quickpages, brag books etc and posts them to scrap galleries...anywhere a potential customer might see them. There is a payoff for all sides involved. The designer gets their work advertised...the creative team gets pretty new kits to play with.

I love making goodies I can share with others on this blog. I always include full credits. Again, a win - win situation. Designer gets credit and advertisement, I get to play and share and the visitors to my site get something pretty to use and some ideas where to shop ;-)

So, back to the creative team call. It was for several designers opening a new store. What a great opportunity I thought. I would have new kits to work with, more goodies to share here with you all and while I expected I would also have some other requirements to fill (posting to galleries...layouts and not just quickpages, etc) I was still excited at all the fun it would be. So after a week and a bit, I finally received the creative team contract. 2 words came to mind. HOLY CRAP.

I am not going to go into details but let's just say that they require a LOT....way more than I am ever going to agree to. If they had not sent me a list of requirements, I very well could have met and exceeded all that they are looking for but to be told you have to do this much in this time frame using this amount of elements/papers and you have to post here, here and there and so on....nope, too much stress for me. I do this for fun. I do this to be able to share. It is their store, their products and I completely respect their right to have however many requirements they want or need from their creative team but it is so not for me.

That said...is there anyone out there who wants a creative team without all the nonsense???

Here is what I am wanting to do. Make quickpages. Make brag books. Make bracket books. Things that I can offer out to others to enjoy. It will be listed on my blog along with full credits and links to blogs/store...whatever the preference. I have no problem with fulfilling obligations as to how many items per kit or even what sort of items but please no time frames. Real life does happen and when my children are sick, my back is out (something that is happening a lot lately), or maybe my daughter just really really needs me to be a guest at her tea party...I don't want to have to worry that I am not going to meet my obligations that day or week.

Are there any designers out there who do not have over the top demands/requirements...who would just like some advertising?

This week has been interesting. I have tried to make the tag requests and pickups as easy as possible through my blog but it seems that some are still confused no matter how much I try to clear things up lol

On the right hand side, you will see labels. Under labels, select the category you wish to look at.

Why I picked the song "Beautiful Life"

When I was setting up my blog, I wanted to have some music that represents me...my place of mind these days. I knew just what song I wanted. "A Beautiful Life" by Fisher. I had heard it recently on an ad for "Jon & Kate makes 8" and I instantly fell in love with it. It makes me think of the important things...like my kids, my husband, my friends. Just a little while ago today, I posted a tag pickup. Within half an hour, I had someone send me 5 emails, all asking for the password. No please. No thank you. Just basically give me the password. The same password I had already posted in black bold text right under the tag she was trying to pick up. At first, I thought...ooops, maybe I forgot to add it so I went right to my blog to check and nope...it was there. I was annoyed for about 2 seconds, clicked on "A Beautiful Life" and remembered...this is why I picked the song. It makes me happy. It makes me not care about the small annoyances lol

Off to pick up my beautiful kids from school.

Why I do the things I do.....

A few years back, I used to tag and while it was fun at first, it quickly became stressful for me. There were several reasons why but for the most part, it was the overwhelming amount of email from each tag offer. I am not the most organized person (this is where my husband would fall into fits of laughter and say something about that being an understatement) and I tried message rules, folders, etc., and I still managed to always make a mess of things. It seemed that almost every time I made a tag, I missed someone's request or at least that is what I would be told. I don't know if they didn't request and thought they had, if I had deleted an email in error or if there are still tag requests floating out there in cyberspace but the fact is that I never had the requests when I made the tags. And would always end up making more after the fact. And then there were the rule breakers (you know who you are lol). I would say a limit of 5 and they would request 10. I would say cut off date is the 10th and inevitably requests would still come in on the 11th, 12th, 13th, etc. I always felt annoyed by that but also felt rotten every time I told the requester no so I rarely did.

This time around, I decided to alleviate that stress because I want to enjoy doing this. There is no reason to do it otherwise.

I have requests done here at the blog because there is no mail...whew. There is no need to organize...bigger whew. I just come in, check my comments and there are all the requests...yay. People can check to make sure their comment has posted once they make it so that alleviates the issue of "didn't you get my email?". Almost perfect! I say almost because there are still the rule breakers lol I have come to the conclusion that they will never change and I am okay with that. When I say 5 tags and they request 10, I will make the first 5 on their list and ignore the rest. When the tag is closed to requests, I will have the comments shut off on the post. Simple :-)

This to me feels organized and this to me feels so much less stressful. I know that not everyone will enjoy this method of requesting. In fact, this morning, I had an email from someone "suggesting" that it would just be easier for them to be able to hit reply and request that way. yes, it would be easier...for her. Not me. At first, it upset me that here I was only on my second tag and already someone was complaining to me but then I decided that no, I am just not going to go there. I am enjoying tagging again and I am not going to let the little stuff annoy me. It's allllllll good :-)

Being Cool Tag

I was just going through some of my older tags. What a waste it seems to never use them again. There might be someone who wants one of them...might even be someone who already had it at one time but has lost it or forgotten they had it in the first place (that would be me lol). So, along with the new, I think once in a while I will pull out one of my older ones and put it up for request. If no one is interested, I will assume that old is just old and doesn't need to be revisited and on to the new.

Friends

Someone recently said "friends aren't what they used to be" and more and more I think they are right. Either that or friendships have never been what I imagined them to be....maybe I am not who I want to be or maybe I expect too much. However I want to look at it, it has come time for me to re-examine things, to make better choices, prioritize things differently...something has to give. I did something I never imagined myself doing but yes, I did it and will now always remember the saying "be careful what you ask for" and take it completely to heart.

My husband is always telling me that people take advantage of me and I have always disagreed..."it's a two way street"...."you don't understand them like I do" etc but I have finally come to the conclusion that he was right...damn. They do take advantage but at the same time, I allow that...over and over again. So who's fault is it? Now that I am starting to see things a bit more clearly, I can laugh at myself and ask this question (look for the poll on the right hand side)

Is it okay to take advantage of someone who is willing to let you? Hmmmmm

I know that there is this misconception with a lot of people that do not live in Canada that Canada is buried deep in snow for 50% of the year but that is simply not the case...at least not in the part of British Columbia that I live in. There are some winters that we barely get any snow at all. This year has been an exception lol Right now we have at least 50 cm of snow and we are expecting more over the next couple of days. I am not a huge fan of the snow but now that my husband is home from work and we have no where to go for the next couple of days, I can just appreciate the beauty of it...from inside...where it is warm!!

Steps to making a quickpage (for me...many also make their own kits/templates):

1. Brainstorm
2. Find just the right kit for just the right idea.
3. Find just the right template for just the right kit.
4. Make the layout. (usually takes me several attempts until I find something I feel is good enough to share).
5. Add all the credits (IMPORTANT)
6. Zip up the files.
7. Upload to 4shared.
8. Load the preview, credits, link, etc on my blog.
9. Post the preview, credits, link, etc to the group "Scrapping4you"

Steps to receiving my efforts:
1. Read mail
2. Go to blog, download.

For the person who answered my poll (why do you not leave a comment when downloading freebies) with the answer "I don't have time" I consider this an unfair transaction. I appreciate your honesty but please save yourself some time and skip my blog. You will then have a few spare moments to leave a thank you at the next person's blog.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who left comments or emailed me privately. I appreciate it more than you will ever understand. I know we are supposed to be making these goodies just for the love of it but yes, I admit, it is very frustrating when people download and run. I have decided to not drag this out...I have other worries to think about, children to spoil over the holidays, work to complete, friendships to mend ...or not...real life is stepping in so once I get these all posted, I am going to take a bit of a break but I will be back in the New Year...or before...depending on how much the creating addiction is calling out to me lol

I have finished my part of the Christmas Convoy...whew. I have been watching some of the previews coming through and let me tell you, this is going to be a must have!!! Some very creative and talented people participating!!!!!

I will be posting my preview later today...right now I am still trying to sort out the bloglist. Getting frustrated....

I have over 40 names added to it. Have "show ALL blogs" checked but it only wants to show 18! Why????? I can not figure out what I am doing wrong??

Back to the world of blogs! Not too long before The Christmas Convoy starts up and I figured it was time to get myself sorted out if I am wanting to join in!
