Taking a break - no offers.

Have you ever had a dream that stuck with you? That you had over and over? The kind that leaves you unsettled wondering what the heck it meant?

A few months ago, I started having the same dream over and over...well, actually, lots of different unrelated dreams but they all had one thing in common...right in the middle of whatever was happening, I would hear a voice say "hellooooooo" (as if someone is looking for someone) and each time it would startle enough to wake me up instantly, no matter how deeply I was sleeping. I didn't recognize the voice but it bothered me because I have always heard that reoccuring dreams are the ones that mean something. So who was looking for me? Or maybe it was me looking for somebody else? I don't know.

A few weeks ago, I got what I thought was a tummy ache. I put it off to dinner not settling right. The next day, the stomach ache was still there, a little worse but tolerable. By night time, it was so painful that I ended up in the ER. The first dr (which took 6 hours to see...ugh) told me it was my appendix and I would be having surgery in the morning. That never happened. The next day, they did a CT scan which showed my appendix was fine. A second dr told me that my stomach was full of infection and it was most likely diverticulitis...something I had never heard of. I was told by him and a nurse that it was very common...many people have it and will never even know because it never flares up...and that the treatment was antibiotics and a clear fluid diet (think jello and juice). I could deal with that. After a few days, my stomach felt much better ...still nauseous but I think that was more from the antibiotics than anything else. Then came the 3rd doctor. I like to refer to him as Dr. Drama because every thing he says is delivered in such a dramatic manner. He says something, pauses, and stares at you...somewhere in the distance I am sure I could hear Dunt dunt dunnnnnnt. He told me that they had spotted a mass in the ct scan they had run. It could be swelling from the diverticulitis....it could be a tumor. It could be benign, it could be malignant. He said a lot of things but as soon as I heard tumor, that was it for me. I knew my 10 year old son was right around the corner...and my fear was that he had heard that (he did) and things shifted for me. In that instant and in the days following, priorities changed. I didn't lay there in my hospital bed thinking about what I was missing on the internet...or what scrap item I was going to work on next. It doesn't matter what happens in the end now...my energy needs to be on my family and that is where it is focused from this point forward. Scrapping, tagging, etc ...done. Sorry.

This is not a sad realization for me...it's an important one. I feel good about the emotional changes going on. I realized how much I love my children, how much of a man my husband is and where my true friendships lie (and where they don't).

The dream....I believe it was my wake up call...literally.

This pic was taken on Oct.26/08 at the pumpkin patch. My two greatest creations Curtis and Sam (now you know where Curtisam Creations comes from lol). I actually didn't get to go on this trip due to a pulled muscle in my back so it was a daddy and kids day. They came home tired, dirty, with lots of pumpkins and loads of photos (good daddy AND a good hubby too)!
